The fake suspense lasted less than 24 hours.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson officially named Jalen Hurts the starting quarterback for his team’s game this upcoming Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hurts finished the Eagles’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals with 338 yards, three passing touchdowns and a passer rating of 102.3. He also added 64 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown, making his responsible for 402 of the team’s 422 total-net yards on offense.
Of course, with Hurts set to start against Dallas, that means Carson Wentz will remain a healthy backup for the third-straight game. It also means that, barring injury, it is very unlikely that Wentz will see the field again this season.
Where the team’s quarterback drama goes this offseason remains to be seen, but as the Eagles continue to stick each week with Hurts over Wentz, you have to wonder if is slowly becoming obvious that is the decision they will make this offseason as well.
