The Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster has been finalized and defensive back James Bradberry is on the team.
"He's been a decent player," Ike Reese said on Tuesday's 94WIP Afternoon Show reacting to the team's decision to keep Bradberry. "Very good his first year, tailed off last year. I just don't see the role, unless it's case of emergency break a glass. "I just don't see the role and the value of him being here."
Bradberry, 31, is in the second year of a three-year, $38 million contract he signed with Philadelphia before the 2023 season. Bradberry has a cap hit of $4.3M this season and a dead cap number of $15.1M, so keeping him was likely a financial decision.
"Bradberry wouldn't be here if the Eagles didn't owe him the money," Reese said. "That's what it is...They just had to find a role for him to justify paying him...There were other safeties, you can't me there weren't other safeties. They've already paid him. So, he's here...And I understand it."
The Eagles moved Bradberry to safety this offseason after bringing in a slew of young and new defensive backs.
