The Eagles placed a waiver claim on running back Jason Huntley on Sunday, giving them four running backs on the roster.
Huntley was a fifth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2020 NFL Draft but was released during final cuts.
What Eagles fans need to know about their newest running back:
** Huntley is lighting quick, and his 40-time (4.37) would have been the fastest of any running back at the Combine had he been invited. The Eagles have stressed adding speed all offseason and this is another move in their attempt to become a more explosive offense.
** Huntley is an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield, pulling in 87 passes and five touchdowns over his final two seasons at New Mexico State. He totaled 2,316 total yards from scrimmage and 22 touchdowns. The Eagles will likely be using him as a threat out of the backfield in the passing game when he is on the field.
** Huntley was also a dynamic kick returner in college, which will definitely catch the Eagles' attention. Huntley averaged 25.8 yards-per-return in four seasons on kick returns with five touchdowns.
