Kelce on facing Wentz: 'Texted him today, great friend and teammate'

Jason Kelce spoke about facing his friend and former teammate Carson Wentz, just days ahead of the Eagles' Week 3 matchup in D.C. with the Commanders.

"I've already texted him today. I'm looking forward to seeing him again," Kelce said on the newest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce. "He was a great friend and a great teammate while he was in Philadelphia. It's a bit of quandary. I want Carson to play well and I want him to do well, but I certainly don't want him to play well on Sunday and I want him to lose.

"I'm always rooting for that guy. Unfortunately, things didn't end well in Philadelphia for him. Got hurt after having an MVP like season end up going on and winning the Super Bowl. After that, it felt like he was always trying to come back from injuries, first the knee then the back. As the team started to get a little bit worse, started to lose some players, it just kind of faded down hill. I thought he played well in Indy last year, outside of the last game it didn't end well."

"Dude, he absolutely killed it just handing it off every other play," Travis Kelce said. "It was awesome man. He had the leading rusher in the league [Jonathan Taylor], of course that quarterback is going to be playing well man."

Wentz, 29, is 1-1 in his first two games with the Commanders. He has completed 57 of 87 passes (65.5%) for 650 yards, 7 TDs, and 3 INTs. He has also taken six sacks in two games.

Wentz will make his return to Philadelphia on November 14th for a Monday Night Football primetime matchup.
