Jason Kelce believes Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens after going offsides in Sunday's game and should be fined by the NFL.
“I thought it was bull s**t at the time," Kelce told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "He purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens. I thought it should have been a personal foul and I think he should be fined for that play."
Phillips got into a heated debate with an Eagles fan during the game and video clips went viral. Phillips claims that Eagles fans were threatening him and his family, but there is no confirmation of that.
"Now, I'm not going to comment on the rest of the game," Kelce said. "There were things happening with the fans, I don't know what happened that got him that fired up. But I thought that play in particular was absolutely a disgrace that the NFL should not allow, I really do."
Kelce was also asked if he believes the Eagles have been "lucky" this season, after three straight incredibly close victories.
"I think fans and I think people watching the game tend to look at specific plays as though, those plays or those calls made the outcome," Kelce said. "There are multiple times throughout the game, for all of these teams that we have won to close these games out. And part of that is them not getting it done or our defense doing a good job, however you want to look at that.
"Luck is—fortuitous, luck whatever you want to call it—is preparation meeting opportunity. We're a really good team. Now, we haven't played our best football, so these games have been tight and we've played bad at times, but great teams find a way to win and find a way to close out games. Sometimes it looks lucky. I think both teams end up having fortune go their way throughout a game. Typically it's a pretty even amount, but I think that the teams that are more discipline, well coached, have better players, have better coaches, tend to capitalize on those opportunities."
