Kelce on people questioning Nick Sirianni: 'People don't question Dan Campbell'

Jason Kelce continues to defend Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, who was under heavy scrutiny early in the season but has led his team to five straight wins.

"I think the big thing people question with Nick is like, 'What does he do?' Especially now that he's not a play caller," Kelce said during his in-studio Thursday morning appearance on the 94WIP Morning Show. "And I just think there's a number of coaches that do this now, Dan Campbell being one of them. And people really don't question what Dan Campbell does for the Lions.

"That's his job to steer everything, bring it all together, making sure it's headed all in the right direction," Kelce continued. "I know that's not as easy and transparent as like calling plays and whether he is good or bad at that. But I think that has tremendous value. For the most part, he's been really, really good at that through his career...You've got to give him some credit for—I don't know who made the hires or whatever. He's been the head coach through Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio coming on and these new additions and they've lost two games this year."

Kelce's former teammate Fletcher Cox also defended Sirianni recently on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams.

The 94WIP Morning Show played audio from a recent Sirianni speech to his players, something Kelce has always said Sirianni is amazing at.

"I think talking in front of a microphone to the media," Kelce explained. "[...] Usually that isn't as much of an indicator as like someone talking to a team or people that they know. It's a different thing. I always felt like Nick was very, very good communicating."

Overall, there's no denying the amount of success Sirianni has had. In his fourth year as Eagles' head coach, Sirianni is 41-19 (.683), reaching the playoffs in all of his first three seasons which includes a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February of 2023.

While 60 games is admittedly a small sample relative to the other great careers of NFL head coaches, Sirianni's .683 regular season winning percentage is currently 9th all-time.
