Joe Giglio believes it would be best for both Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles if the legendary future Hall Of Fame center decided to retire.
"He is an all-time player, he is an all-time Eagle. Jason Kelce is awesome," Giglio began on Wednesday's 94WIP Midday Show, which was also Convince Kelce Day on 94WIP. "I am going to miss watching him play, whenever it is that he moves on.
"I'll be the one. It's not about Jason Kelce as a player, it's about the franchise and where everything is at right now. I think it's best for both parties if Jason Kelce does decide to move on this offseason. Here's where I'm at, at some point everyone has to move on, specifically the Eagles. Part of the issue this year was a leadership issue...Jason has been the leader and the spokesperson here for a long time. If he decides to move on and he goes to do TV, Jalen Hurts probably has no choice but to be more vocal. He's got to be the guy! I think that could be a good thing.
"I think he's got one foot out the door...I wonder if you're mind is half out, if you can bring it back in. I'm watching Jason Kelce, reports that he's meeting with Amazon, he's meeting with CBS, he's meeting with ESPN. He's clearly got his mind on his next phase of life. The documentary on Amazon last year where he talked about how excruciating the decision was. And I'm watching him at the Bills-Chiefs playoff game shirtless and running around, having a good time. And that's fine. If he's ready for that portion of his life and to enjoy things, then he should go do it. And the last thing I'll say on this—and this isn't a matter his play it's about the reality of the Eagles—they've drafted two centers in the last few years to replace him. They're playing guard now next to him. They've used high picks on Dickerson and Jurgens and those guys are not playing the position they drafted them to play because Jason Kelce is still here...They have his replacements. He made $14.25 million last year. If Jason Kelce decides to retire, we can give that money to Haason Reddick. We can build a defense with that money, so I think it could actually benefit both parties."
85-percent of fans believe the Eagles need Kelce.
Kelce, 36, is once again mulling retirement. The seven-time Pro Bowler, six-time first-team All-Pro and Super Bowl champion will undoubtedly be named to the Pro Football Hall Of Fame one day.
