“Jayden Daniels is our starting quarterback.”
And with that, Dan Quinn finally revealed the worst-kept secret in the DMV, announcing at Monday’s press conference that the No. 2 pick will be QB1 Week 1 in Tampa.
Daniels completed 10-of-12 passes for 78 yards in Saturday’s preseason game in Miami, and that may have sealed the deal on Jayden getting the nod.
“"I thought he had another really good outing," Quinn said Saturday. "The accuracy, the decision-making of where to go. He really is a unique competitor."
The new head coach had been splitting reps between Daniels and Marcus Mariota all throughout camp and refused to name an official QB1, which he kept his word on until Monday.
"We knew we would get here, but we were just excited to see how we would," Quinn said Monday. “So, seeing him hit all the spots, this is a rare competitor."
