Joe Douglas has reportedly found his next NFL stop, and it’s a familiar one.
According to multiple reports, the former Jets GM is going back to the Eagles, where he will serve in a senior scouting role. Douglas was with the Birds from 2016 to 2019 before he was hired by Gang Green.
In his first stint in Philly, Douglas was the team’s vice president of player personnel.
Douglas’ tenure as general manager in New York did not go well. He landed some quality first-round picks like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, but he also flopped with the most important pick of his tenure, taking Zach Wilson second overall in 2021 as the hopeful franchise quarterback of the future.
Douglas also helped orchestrate the trade that brought Haason Reddick over from the Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick. The result was an extended holdout from Reddick before an abbreviated and mainly unproductive season.
In his six years as Jets GM, the team went 32-68. He was fired midseason before New York hired Darren Mougey at the end of the season.
