The NFL Trade Deadline is this Tuesday, and like they have been the last three years, the Eagles are expected to be active.
Here is the latest rundown of rumors from Sunday morning:
Zach Ertz: The Eagles were listening to offers for tight end Zach Ertz prior to him suffering an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve, via an ESPN report. Now that he is on injured reserve the Eagles can't trade him, however.
This is not the first time that Ertz's name has come up in trade rumors. Had he not suffered his ankle injury it would have been interesting to see if the Eagles would have moved the Pro-Bowl tight end, who is looking for a new contract. The Eagles electing to put Ertz on injured reserve instead of doing it after the deadline, however, could be a sign they were not too serious about moving him — or they didn't like the offers.
DeSean Jackson: The same goes for receiver DeSean Jackson, per an ESPN report, as the Eagles were apparently willing to trade Jackson before he suffered an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve. Jackson is unlikely to be back with the team next year, so it isn't surprising the Eagles would have been willing to move him. That won't be happening now that he is on injured reserve.
Alshon Jeffery: Shocker — the Eagles would be willing to listen to offers for Alshon Jeffery, per an ESPN report. Howie Roseman has denied the team is trying to trade Jeffery, but it seems pretty clear they would move him at this point for almost anything. Jeffery has yet to play in a game for the Eagles this season, and won't play on Sunday night against Dallas. Jeffery would have needed to prove he is healthy prior to any team trading for him, and with that not happening, it would be surprising if any team made an offer for Jeffery before Tuesday.
Overall, it seems pretty clear that the Eagles were going to try to shed some of the older veterans on the roster, but injuries is going to prevent that from happening.
Will Fuller: One player that will catch the attention of Eagles' fans is Houston Texans receiver Will Fuller. According to ESPN teams have been interested in making a move for the speedy receiver, but it isn't clear if the Texans are willing to move him. Fuller would cost the Eagles about $5 million, and is a free agent this offseason, so it is unlikely they would offer much for Fuller — unless they were very confident they could sign him to a new deal.
