The 94WIP Morning Show played the soundbite of former Eagles legendary coach Dick Vermeil comparing Jalen Carter to Reggie White for Nick Sirianni.
"I am smiling here because obviously Reggie white is unbelievable, one of the best Eagles of all time," Sirianni told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Tuesday morning. "[Jalen] has a long way to go. He's got to work every day to get better. He's had a good start and we've all seen how impressive he's been in practice and in the games so far. He's just got to put his head down and work. It's a long season. Reggie was able to do that year after year after year, game after game after game. Obviously I respect Coach Vermeil's opinion very much. Now that he's not in the coach's seat he's able to look ahead a little bit and forecast, I've got to stay day by day. Next time I talk to Coach Vermeil I'll be like, 'Woah that was high expectation for Jalen!' He's got a long way to go though, but we're really pleased with where he is."
Vermeil was the head coach of the Eagles from 1976 to 1982, just missing White's tenure in Philadelphia which was from 1985 to 1992.
"To me, he reminds me of Reggie White," Vermeil said of Carter, the Eagles No. 9 overall pick this year, on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show. "I don't want to pressure on him early, but I don't know if he has a limit. And if you try to block him one on one it's a battle you're going to lose. He's very impressive."
Carter, who has played in just about 50-percent of the Eagles' snaps through two games, has 11 QB pressures, just two behind the NFL leader. Carter has one sacks, two tackles for loss, and a QB hit already in his first two games.
