Ritchie does not understand why Nick Sirianni chose not to play Jalen Hurts in preseason
Jon Ritchie believes Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is making a mistake by not playing quarterback Jalen Hurts or the offensive starters at all this preseason.
"You've got a new offense, a new protection scheme that absolutely needs reps and work between your quarterback and your center, and your offensive coordinator for that matter," Ritchie, a former Raiders and Eagles fullback, said on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara.
"I would like a dress rehearsal, please. Now I'm all but certain that is not going to happen because it's the third preseason coming up, it's the last preseason game. They missed their window, they missed their opportunity. I just don't understand our head coach thinks if it's good enough for Patrick Mahomes. Why is Jalen different? I want Jalen to get all the work necessary for him to be fully ready for this season and I don't think Nick Sirianni made sure that he got that in."
Through two preseason games, Hurts and the offensive starters have played zero snaps. The Eagles' final preseason game is Saturday, August 24th at the Linc against the Minnesota Vikings.
