Jon Ritchie: 'I struggle to believe in Nick Sirianni'
Jon Ritchie does not fully believe in Philadelphia Eagles fourth year head coach Nick Sirianni.
"I struggle to believe in Nick Sirianni. Nick Sirianni is something less than what I had hoped, to this point," Ritchie said on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show.
"To me, it's more like he bumbles a little bit. He knows a lot about football, but he can't always communicate it as well as I wish he could. That is my worry."
On Monday's 94WIP Brandon Graham Show at Chickie's and Pete's, the veteran defensive end defended Sirianni, explaining why the players love playing for him saying, "We wouldn't be playing for him the way we played for him yesterday to try and get this game...It's different if we didn't like somebody or somebody was rubbing us the wrong way."
"He's nice, he's easy, they're practicing for 45 minutes in many cases, they're not hitting in many cases," Ritchie said. "So yeah, I do think the team likes him, but I want Kellen Moore to be the main offensive mind who translates the ideas into plays...and then calls those plays in games. I don't want Nick Sirianni being a major part of that...I would prefer that Kellen Moore keeps it consistent, I would prefer that is what the quarterback gets a feel for, Kellen Moore's rhythm."
The 94WIP Morning Show ran a poll on X asking if fans believe in Sirianni and 65-percent of fans said no, despite the Eagles coming off a huge, emotional road win in New Orleans.
The Eagles hired a new offensive coordinator in Moore this offseason to run the offense, but Sirianni has explained that occasionally he will overrule Moore and call a play.
"It's such a collaborative effort," Sirianni told the 94WIP Morning Show on Tuesday. "Ultimately Kellen is calling the plays and dialing up the plays so I can do other things, but if there is a scenario where I say something that I want to go for it, do something...We have a lot of guys who have been coordinators and called plays on our staff."
