Dr. Damon A. Greene, MD is an orthopedic surgeon with Shore Orthopedic University Associates located in Galloway, Somers Point and Cape May Courthouse, NJ.

Dr. Greene specializes in sports medicine, acute and chronic ligament or cartilage injuries to all major joints; primarily shoulders, elbows, knees and hips, as well as joint replacements and fracture care.

Dr. Greene joined Angelo Cataldi to discuss Jalen Hurts' right shoulder sprain.

"Sprained shoulder can mean a bunch of things, but after looking at the hit that Jalen suffered, it typically means that he sprained or injured one of the ligaments that kind of holds that acromion to the clavicle. So that's the joint at the end of your shoulder, that when you land on that, that's what he injured, most likely."

Dr. Greene explained there are six different grades when it comes to shoulder sprains.

"The fact that he got to play the whole rest of the game, we didn't even know he was injured even in the immediate postgame interviews," Dr. Greene said. "He's going to be resting, he's going to be icing that shoulder, he's going to be taking a lot of ibuprofen and letting it heal up for the playoffs.

"Typically, for type 1 or 2 injuries, you're looking at anywhere between two to five weeks for full recovery.

During Dr. Greene's fellowship training he worked with the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans. He was also selected as the assistant orthopedic surgeon at the NBA All Star game and the NFL Combine.

Dr. Greene has a passion for fitness, cycling, playing soccer and skiing.
He can frequently be seen surfing in Ocean City, NJ.
