"If there was any doubters left, there shouldn't be now," Mahomes said emphatically. "The way he stepped up on this stage and ran, threw the ball, whatever it took for his team to win. That was a special performance that I don't want to get lost in the loss that they had.

"Even when we got all of the momentum in the game and we went up eight points in the fourth quarter. For him to respond and move his team right down the football field and run it in himself for the two point conversion. It was a special performance by him man and you make sure you appreciate that when you look back on this game."

Despite the loss, Hurts was absolutely brilliant completing 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown and rushing for another 70 yards and a Super Bowl record three touchdowns.

Mahomes, after re-injuring his ankle just before halftime, came out firing on all cylinders in the second and eventually lead his team to a win while throwing 182 yards and three touchdowns.

Mahomes, 27, was named Super Bowl MVP and now has two regular season and two Super Bowl MVPs, plus two Super Bowl wins, to go along with five Pro Bowls and two first-team All-Pros in just six NFL seasons.
