Ray Didinger believes Northwestern offensive lineman Peter Skoronski at No. 10 overall is the ideal pick for the Eagles.
"To me if I were sitting in Howie's chair, to me the ideal scenario would be—and this clearly toward the long-term career—would be if Peter Skoronski some how falls through nine picks and he's there at 10," Didinger told the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday, joining them in-studio with his yellow legal pad. "Now at 10, now I have a lot of options. I have a really good player who I know could play right away, but meanwhile the phone is ringing because there are five teams that all want trade up to number 10 to draft a quarterback.
"But if I had that choice, I would take Skoronski...I think he is going to go before that...The fact is right now you have a hole at right guard. Peter Skoronski could come in and be your starting right guard. He's excellent. He's excellent...You pump him into guard and he becomes a Pro Bowl player."
The 21-year-old 6,4" 315-pound lineman was a unanimous All-American in 2022 and was named Big Ten offensive lineman of the year.
Of course, there is a lot of buzz around running Bijan Robinson and the Eagles, a player Didinger admitted warrants serious consideration even though selecting a running back in the top-10 goes against the Eagles' philosophy.
"They just don't believe in that [taking a running back in the top 10]," Didinger said. "I think Jeff and Howie have a philosophy, that's just not theirs...I think he is a very rare player. I think he is one of that special group of running backs that you actually think about. I mean when I watch him on tape, and I've said this before, but the player he reminds me of is Edgerrin James. I really think he has a lot of Edgerrin James type qualities and I haven't put a whole lot of people in that category, but I would put him...I think they should have a full conversation among all their [personnel] guys."
