Ike Reese admits he wonders if Eagles' passing offense is good enough
Eternal Eagles' optimist Ike Reese expressed some doubt about the 11-2 Philadelphia Eagles despite winning their ninth straight game.
"They won yesterday, they are 11-2," Reese said at the beginning of Monday's 94WIP Afternoon Show with Spike Eskin and Jack Fritz. "This is a very good football team with areas they can still improve upon. Man, this is a complex team to talk about right now. You know they're a good football team, but do you feel they're good enough, is what really the question is ultimately with the football team.
"No one is comfortable with the way they played yesterday. You can talk yourself into it...and this is a smart fan base that knows that there are some areas of questions that this team needs to answer and get better at. Can they and will they is really what truly lies ahead of us. And I wish I had an answer right now, I really do. I wish I could tell you I believe in Jalen to a point where I know this is going to get better...I don't understand why it's not a lot easier than it is right now for this passing offense.
"There's going to come a point where it will hurt us. Whether it costs us the number one seed, whether it costs us in the second round—hell, whether it costs us in the first round of the playoffs.
"These [other NFC] teams can score. Can we do that? If I'm being honest, I'm at probably a seven and I'm being optimistic there...I'm not as confident as I should be for a team that's 11-2. I don't know what to blame it on one person."
Philadelphia has become the run heaviest team in the NFL over their nine-game winning streak and Jalen Hurts completed just 14 of 21 passes for 108 yards in Sunday's uninspiring 22-16 win over Carolina.
A.J. Brown had just four catches on four targets for 43 yards.
After the game he told reporters it's "incredibly tough" to get into a rhythm as a wide receiver when the offense isn't throwing the ball a lot.
Brown also threw his helmet in frustration at one point during the game and when asked about what caused that reaction he said simply, "Three and out."
