Ross Tucker: Eagles too elite on offense to consider them 'average'
Despite their ugly 2-2 start, Ross Tucker believes when healthy the Philadelphia Eagles are still an above average football team.
"By far the two biggest issues are the defense and Hurts' turnovers," Tucker told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "I can't say [the Eagles are] average because they have a top five offensive line, they have a top five wide receiving duo, they have a top five tight end, they definitely have a top five running back. Interestingly, I don't think they do have a top five quarterback. I'm not sure where Hurts is. I don't think he's top five, I'm not sure he's top 10 right now, that would be an interesting discussion. But my point is I can't say they're average when they are elite at that many positions, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
"Here's the problem...how are you not scoring any points in the first quarter so that you can play with the lead because the defense is built to play with a lead. The secondary, I'm OK with their safeties. I'm OK with their corners. Now, they got to better at nickel, but I'm OK with Slay and Quinyon on the outside. The linebackers have been very inconsistent and that's a major issue...Problem the thing that is most concerning on the team is Hurts' turnovers and the inconsistency of the front seven, in particular the defensive line."
