Spike: Eagles with most 'unlucky playoff draw' ever
Spike Eskin opened Monday's 94WIP Afternoon Show admitting he was nervous about the Eagles' Wildcard round matchup against the 11-6 Packers.
"Unfortunately, [the Eagles] wind up with maybe the unlucky playoff draw of all-time. In that they win 14 games—they're going to face probably the best 7-seed in NFL history in the Green Bay Packers, who have a good offense, a good defense," Eskin said. "Only won 11 games, but they are in a very difficult division."
In 2020, the NFL switched to the current format where seven teams from each conference make the postseason and only the No. 1 seed earns a bye.
Eskin's co-host and former Eagle Ike Reese disagreed, happy the Birds are facing the Packers in the first-round rather than the Commanders.
"I actually like the draw, I really do," Reese said. "I thought Green Bay would be the better matchup [over Washington]...I just don't see enough on the Packers' [offensive] side of the football that poses legitimate threats...Quite frankly, I would be more concerned with Jayden Daniels than I would be Jordan Love."
Eskin pointed out that the Eagles, who are 4.5 point favorites at home on Sunday at 4:30pm over Green Bay, would have been 7.5 point favorites against Washington this weekend.
