Wentz, Eagles hoping Bengals are exactly what they need

Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles are struggling. Some analysts are even calling them the most disappointing NFL team through the first two weeks of the 2020 season.

That's the bad news. The good news? The Eagles (-5.5, o/u 46.5) get the 0-2 Bengals in Week 3 at the Linc.

Ray Didinger believes Wentz can improve on his 32nd NFL ranked QBR of 28.1.

"It was really bad. It was really bad," Didinger said of Wentz's Week 2 performance on Thursday. "Can he turn it around immediately? Yeah, I think. He's going to need some help. It's not just all on him. A lot is going to depend on the game plan, a lot is going to depend on the play calling. But really I would expect him to play well this week, largely in part because the Bengals defense just isn't very good. I looked at the Bengals defense this week and man, it's really bad."

Is Sunday's game the season for the Eagles?

"Yeah, I mean you hate to put it in those terms when it's only Week 3, but yeah. If they can't beat this team then you really have to wonder who on their schedule they can beat. They really do have to win this game and they know it. And the head coach knows it and the quarterback knows it because they're the two standing in the bullseye right now."

The Eagles are an NFL worst minus-5 in turnover differential, while the Bengals aren't much better at minus-2. Wentz has four interceptions and a fumble lost already this season, with just two touchdown passes and one rushing score. Wentz threw just seven interceptions in each of the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons.
