Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce went into depth on why he was so animated and frustrated on the sideline during Sunday's game against the Rams in Los Angeles.
"We are putting in a lot of time and effort into fixing the red zone issues," Kelce said candidly during his 7:30am weekly Wednesday call-in on the 94WIP Morning Show. "I know that our offense has gotten back on track largely outside of that, but the red zone has been a major problem and it's frustrating when you're having a lot of good drives and you want to be a team that you know you can be and there's continual mistakes or continual issues that stall out these drives.
"Just overall frustration with a lot of things. It's not productive to get into that level and I realize that. I'm so comfortable with all of these people I'm out there with because of the relationships that I have with them, that sometimes I go I think over the top in expressing myself because I know that we all love each other. And I need to do a better job of doing that, especially in a public setting, being more respectable in a way that a leader should probably handle that. Certainly not happy with that display and I think all of us want to fix this stuff."
To Kelce's point, Philadelphia ranks just 27th in the NFL with just eight touchdowns on their 21 red-zone drives (38-percent).
"We've been really highly efficient in two-minute situations," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told the media this week. "We've been highly efficient in four-minute, third down. It's just red zone right now, we are struggling a little bit."
