Joe Giglio on drafting RB No. 10 overall: 'Strict and simple no'

It's one of the biggest debates in recent American football history: Is it worth drafting a running back in the first-round? In the top 10?

Well, the Eagles will have that opportunity in three weeks as it pertains to potentially drafting Texas RB Bijan Robinson with the No. 10 overall selection.

"Right now, I am on a strict and simple no," Joe Giglio said on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show with Hugh Douglas. "I would not draft Bijan Robinson with the No. 10 pick...I am not taking a running back with the 10th overall pick."

"He's got enough ability where he can lead the league in rushing," NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said on the 94WIP Marks & Reese Show. "Every one of his carries will be for a playoff team in the prime of his career. I love it, I would do it, but I have my doubts that they will."

Jeremiah compared Robinson to former Colts RB Edgerrin James.

94WIP Midday Show producer Kyle Quinn argued that the Eagles should take Robinson because he would maximize their chances to win the Super Bowl in 2023.

"This is the easiest position in the NFL to fill. The Chiefs just won the Super Bowl with a seventh round running back leading the way. When I think of the 10th pick in the draft, I think it is a cornerstone player...Running back is a replaceable part...

"I understand Kyle's point about he wants to win the Super Bowl next year. But they have to think big picture about this," Giglio argued. "Once they pay Jalen Hurts there is less money to pay other players. In the last 14 years, no team has won a Super Bowl with a running back making more than $2.6 million on the cap. The 10th pick in this draft will make $4 million on the cap. The minute he arrives he's overpaid compared to running backs that win Super Bowls."
