The Eagles have signed veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah to a one-year deal.
This could mean the end of the Brock Bowers dream in the NFL Draft for Eagles fans.
Here are some thoughts on the signing from Eliot Shorr-Parks:
1. 31-years old, 6-5, 106 games in 9 seasons with 192 catches, 1,881 yards, 16 TDs in his career. Has 29 catches over the last two seasons, has never had over 500 yards in a season
2. Had an MCL injury in Week 13 last season, but played 15 games in 2022 and 16 games in 2021.
3. Uzomah is just a backup signing that will get a chance to try to make the team in training camp. Not a roster lock and likely very little guaranteed money.
4. Will compete with Albert Okwuegbunam and Grant Calcaterra (plus likely a rookie or two) for a roster spot behind Dallas Goedert
5. Eagles needed some depth after losing Jack Stoll. Uzomah when healthy is better than Stoll.
6. Was 66th in the NFL among TEs as a blocker, per PFF
