Eagles trade for CB Josiah Scott: Everything you need to know

The Eagles made a move at cornerback on Tuesday, acquiring cornerback Josiah Scott from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for cornerback Jameson Houston and a 2023 sixth-round pick.

Scott, 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, was a forth-round pick in 2020.

Here is everything you need to know about the Eagles' newest cornerback:

*** Scott appeared in six games for the Jaguars last season, totaling 11 tackles (including one for a loss), but no pass deflections. He was in coverage on 48 snaps, allowing eight catches for 95 yards and no touchdowns.

*** Scott spent some time last season at nickel cornerback for the Jaguars, and it is possible thats where the Eagles plan on playing him, as he is only 5-foot-9. Scott isn't a lock to make the team, but considering the depth issues the team has, there is likely a good shot he makes it unless he has an awful training camp.

*** Scott was a ballhawk during his time at Michigan State, totaling three interceptions and eight pass breakups in 13 starts during his final season in college. With only one year under his belt in the NFL, and limited snaps, it is possible his ability to make plays around the ball could still translate to the next level.

*** The fact the Jaguars are trading Scott, who they invested a fourth-round pick into, after just one season isn't a great sign — but they are under a whole new coaching staff. The Eagles picking up a flyer on a former fourth-round pick just one year after he was drafted, and trading a player they were going to cut and a late-round pick in 2023, is a good move.

*** No, this isn't the final move the Eagles will be making at cornerback.
