The Eagles preseason finale against the New York Jets was delayed on Friday night due to extreme rain that caused at large portions of the field to raise up.

The kickoff was moved back to 8 p.m. from it's original start time of 7:30 p.m.

The heavy rain happened about an hours before the game, but as you can see in the below photos and videos, is caused bubbles similar to pitching mounds to raise up all over the field:

The Eagles were not planning on playing any of their starters, so the game being delayed shouldn’t impact them too much, but you have to wonder if the wet playing surface will potentially impact the backup players that were looking for one more chance to impress the team before final cuts.

This is, of course, not the field time an Eagles preseason game was impacted due to an issue with the field. In 2001 a preseason game between the Eagles and Baltimore Ravens was cancelled due to problems with the turf at Veterans Stadium.
