Eagles head coach Doug Pederson “finds himself on the hot seat with his future in doubt”, according to a report from NFL Network.
While the Eagles’ 3-7-1 record would certainly indicate that changes are possible, this report is one of the first indications Pederson’s job is indeed in trouble, and his track record of winning in recent seasons might not be enough so save his job.
The report, from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, goes on to say that those inside the NovaCare Complex have picked up on the desperation of the situation:
“The public has begun speculating on Pederson's future, and some in the building have done the same, fearing that Pederson's job is on the line. They can sense the tension, the frustration, the disgust and the search for a resolution.”
Frustration and disgust are two words that seem to perfectly describe this season. The coaches likely feel frustration coaching this roster, the players almost certainly feel it after each game and there is no doubt fans feel disgust watching it all unfold.
The question is whether a year many will want to forget in Eagles’ history will result in meaningful changes — and this report sure seems to indicate those changes will start by moving on from the Super Bowl winning head coach.
