The Eagles already made one big move in the 2021 NFL Draft, moving down from No. 6 to No. 12 to acquire a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
That trade might not be the last one they make.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Eagles are looking to get back into the top 10 of the draft.
As for the trade market, the Eagles are exploring a move into the top 10 despite having just dropped from No. 6 to No. 12. Having acquired a first-round pick in 2022 from the Dolphins, the Eagles could move up and still net more assets.
The Eagles trying to get back into the top 10, or at least doing their homework on it, isn't surprising. You never know what could happen on draft night and looking into the price to move up now is their job.
They players they would likely be targeting in a move up are either LSU's Ja'Marr Chase or Alabama's Jaylen Waddle. Chase is expected by some to go No. 5 to the Cincinnati Bengas, but if he were to get past the Bengals and the Miami Dolphins at No. 6, the Eagles could move up.
Waddle is also a name to keep an eye on for a trade up. Waddle might have been the No. 1 receiver in the draft this year if he didn't suffer an ankle injury last season. It is possible Waddle makes it to No. 12, but the New York Giants at No. 11 could take him. If the Eagles view that as a possibility, they could try to jump to No. 9, ahead of both the Dallas Cowboys and Giants to try to get Waddle.
Here is a look at what it might cost to move up to picks 7-9:
No. 7: Getting from No. 12 to No. 7 to get Chase or Waddle would be costly, but it is definitely possible. The Eagles could offer their 3rd-round pick, No. 70 overall, which is worth 240 points. That gets them pretty close. If Detroit wanted even-or-better value for the pick, the Eagles could add their 4th-round pick, No. 123, which is worth 49 points. That would get them to 289 points. Trading a third-and-fourth round picks to go from No. 12 to No. 7 would cost them two picks, but it would essentially mean they would end up with the same player many wanted them to take at No. 6, only having traded No. 70 and No. 123 for a 2022 1st-round pick.
No.8: This one is pretty straight forward. If Chase and Waddle make it past Miami and Detroit, the Eagles could offer up their 3rd-round pick, No. 70. The pick is worth 240 points, which is an overpay, but would secure them Chase or Waddle.
No.9: If Chase or Waddle are there at No. 9, the Eagles could offer future 2nd-or-3rd round pick to move up. The 2022 2nd-round pick would be an overpay, the 2022 3rd-round pick would probably be fair value. There wouldn't be a natural trade in terms of even value from this year's draft, unless Denver knew they could get who they wanted at No. 12, and would accept the Eagles' 4th-round pick (49 points) combined with a later-round pick. The benefit the Eagles would have in a trade over other teams is Denver would only have to drop to No. 12, as opposed to further down the draft if they were dealing with another team.
