Ron Jaworski: Jalen Hurts needs to be better at going through progressions
Ron Jaworski says Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts needs to be better at going through his progressions.
"I think he's been average, I think he's got to get better at it," Jaworski said on Friday's 94WIP Afternoon Show with Ike Reese, Spike Eskin and Jack Fritz when asked how Hurts has been this season going through his reads.
"He is the slowest release quarterback in the NFL. When I look at the plays on tape, I do see opportunities to get rid of the ball more quickly...When he gets what he expects to get, what the play is called to attack, he's phenomenal. When he has to go through two or three [options] then he struggles a little bit."
In Week 1 in Brazil vs. the Packers, Hurts threw for 278 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs in a 34-29 win. In a disappointing one-point home loss in Week 2 to the Falcons, Hurts threw for 183 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT rushing for another 85 yards and a score on the ground.
Hurts is completing 67.2-percent of his passes (43-64) in two games this season. He already has four turnovers (3 INT, 1 fumble).
