Ron Jaworksi is putting some pressure on Jalen Hurts, as he enters his third NFL season and season as the Eagles' full time starting quarterback.
"I would like to see the big step this year and I think it's time, it is the third year," Jaworksi told Jon Marks & Ike Reese on Tuesday afternoon. "I've always believed after that second or third year, it's when quarterbacks kind of understand what the NFL is about, what the NFL style of football is about."
Jaws admits Jalen Hurts' performance is the Eagles' eliminating wildcard playoff game against the Tampa Bay Bucs last season gave him "pause."
"I think this is a very big year for him," Jaws said of Hurts. "It's time he's got to make the plays that quarterbacks in this league have to make throwing the football. As much as I was pleased last year with his progression in the regular season, I saw a nice gradual increase as he played all season long, but I didn't see it in the playoff game against Tampa. In fact, he had a very poor game reading coverage, reading the blitzes, getting the ball out of his hand, going through his progression and that kind of caused me some pause. So now I think he has to come out this year and he has to show that he is better, he now has some experience under his belt."
