Do the Eagles need another running back?
With the NFL trade deadline exactly one day away (Tuesday, October 31st at 4pm E.T.), there is a lot of conversation surrounding whether or not the Eagles should go after a running back.
Here are four possible trade targets, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks, all of whom check four boxes: on a bad team, on a cheap or expiring contract, likely will not be back on their current team next season, and could immediately help the Eagles.
1. Derrick Henry, TEN
The most talked about target. Henry would cost around $5 million in cap hits this year and then will be a free-agent.
"Henry behind this o-Line would be a game changer and take pressure off Hurts in short-yardage," ESP writes on X.
On the flip side, the Titans reportedly have said they are not trading Henry and after a win this weekend with rookie quarterback Will Levis, they may have some renewed life (or false hope) to try to make a playoff push in the AFC.
2. Josh Jacobs, LV
Jacobs is a free-agent after the season and would cost the Eagles around $4 million in cap space. He has rushed for 1,000-plus yards in three of his four NFL seasons and has caught 50-plus balls in each of his last two campaigns. Without a doubt, one of the best all-around NFL running backs, but would cost a lot.
The Raiders are 3-4 and play at the Lions tonight. A win would certainly allow them to continue to push toward the postseason.
3. James Conner, ARI
Conner is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury, but could be returning in the next few weeks. He is only $1 million this year and $3 million next year, per ESP. The 1-7 Cardinals have no shot at making the playoffs so holding Conner does not really suit them. He would be the cheapest option of these four.
4. Saquon Barkley, NYG
When healthy, Barkley is one of the best, if not the best all-around running back. Since returning from injury, Barkley has 93, 77, and 128 rushing yards in three games on a dreadful New York Giants offense and that's not even counting what he does in the passing game as well. Barkley, who turns 27 in February, is a free-agent after this season.
The 2-6 Giants are out of the playoff picture after yet another loss this weekend, but acquiring a star RB from a division rival would certainly cost the Eagles a haul.
