Ross Tucker 'does not see Saquon Barkley getting 20 touches per game'
Saquon Barkley will get to run behind the most talented offensive line and play in the best offense of his career this season as a first-year Eagle.
NFL analyst Ross Tucker believes the Eagles will look to keep him fresh and healthy for the long haul and keep his touches around 15 per game, not 20.
"They believe very strongly that they're going to be a playoff team, that means at least 18 football games," Tucker said on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie. "And I imagine they desperately want him to be fresh and healthy for December and January football. I do not see him getting 20 touches a game. I think it's more like 15...Because they have other mouths to feed. I also think the hope, I believe, that with this [offensive] line that he's going to be so explosive with what he does. When you're talking about 20 touches [per game], it's almost like you're talking about long drives and sustaining drives. I think they hope he's just ripping off 30, 40 yard runs."
DraftSharks projects Barkley for 297.5 carries and 50.7 catches, which comes to 20.48 touches per game.
The Eagles signed Barkley, 27, this offseason to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million with $26 million guaranteed.
