Tiki Barber, days after predicting that Saquon Barkley’s legacy would be tainted in New York forever if he left for the hated Eagles, said Barkley was “dead to us” after the star running back did indeed sign a three-year deal with Philadelphia.
Hours after Barber’s “dead to me” comments, Barkley fired back.
“I got the deal I wanted,” Barkley posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). “So if fans are gonna hate me for that so be it! But I never turned my back on my teammates and always had theirs.”
Minutes later, Barkley fired off a separate post at Tiki.
“You been a hater since I got to New York,” Barkley said. “And all the “Dead to me” talk don’t smile in my face when you see me.”
Tiki has spoken highly of the cultural impact Barkley had on the Giants, which is why he advocated for Big Blue to keep him in New York before the trade deadline last season, even if it meant risking losing him for nothing in the offseason, which eventually happened. Now, Barkley becomes a bitter rival to the Giants and their fans, taking the short trip down the Turnpike to Philadelphia.
