Ray Didinger: Saquon Barkley, Eagles focused on Super Bowl over records
Saquon Barkley has a shot to break Eric Dickerson's single-season NFL rushing record of 2,105 yards, but Ray Didinger says Barkley and the Eagles are focused on the bigger picture.
"The records, they don't matter that much to Barkley," Didinger told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show. "They really don't. But he wants to win. He wants to win a Super Bowl.
"The trajectory that this team is on right now and the way that they're playing, and the way that they seem to be getting stronger by the week compared to where they were a year ago at this time, is all the good reason to say, 'Records are great, they absolutely are'—and who knows, maybe they will happen. But that's not what we're pursuing."
Barkley rushed for a career-high 255 yards on 26 carries in last night's Eagles' win over the Rams, their seventh straight victory. It was the ninth-best rushing performance in NFL history.
Barkley now has 1,392 rushing yards, already a career-high, through only 11 games this season.
"It's historic, it's historic," Didinger said of Barkley. "It's fun when you're watching it because you know you're watching history. You know you're watching something that is out of the ordinary."
