Schefter: Eagles 'better positioned' than any other team to trade for Deshaun Watson

The Eagles will be at the NovaCare Complex in less than two weeks for the beginning of training camp — and it might be time to start wondering who will be under center as their starting quarterback.

Speaking recently on ESPN, NFL Insider Adam Schefter named the Eagles as the team best equipped to make a trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Here is what Schefter had to say about the potential of Watson being traded:

“(Watson’s) football future is in question. With camp coming up in under two weeks, that does become the question about his future. As you alluded to, he does want out of Houston, he doesn’t want to be there. I think the Texans have mentally and physically prepared to move on without Deshaun Watson. So the question becomes — when do the Texans trade Deshaun Watson? Is it this summer, this season, after this season? I personally think they will wait until his value is restored, and they don’t have to sell him, trade him off at a discounted price. But if and when they come to the point where they are ready to trade him, there is no team out there — no team out there — better positioned and better armed to go trade for Deshaun Watson than the Philadelphia Eagles”

The Eagles being linked to Watson is nothing new. They have not shown a full commitment to Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback. They have three first-round picks in 2022 to trade away if needed. They are a team obsessed with throwing the ball and obsessed with making moves at the quarterback position.

Whether or not the Eagles pull off a deal for Watson remains to be seen, but with training camp set to begin soon, it sure seems like a trade is very possible.
