The scoreboard showed Kansas City 42, Philadelphia 30, but if you watched the game if felt much closer than that. Nine Eagles penalties, including three that took touchdowns off of the board, resulted in a frustrating Eagles' loss, but there were certainly positives to take from it.
"A loss is a loss is a loss," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told Angelo Cataldi during his Monday morning call-in today. "I'm the leader of this football team. I just have to be steady and even keel all the way through."
Sirianni, who is now off to a 1-3 start, did admit the Eagles got some good individual performances—especially on offense—from guys like Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Kenneth Gainwell, and both tight ends.
"You can't discredit—there are zero moral victories in the NFL as we all know," Sirianni said. "But you can't discredit the guys that played a good game and did a lot of good things, and they can build on those good things they did. There were a number of guys that played a good game."
Hurts, in particular, Sirianni said was the best he's even see him, including a game or practice.
Hurts finished the game 32-48 for 387 yards, 2 TDs, 47 rushing yards, and zero turnovers.
