Brian Johnson is staying in the NFC East, as the Washington Commanders are expected to give the 2023 Eagles' offensive coordinator a "prominent offensive staff role," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Johnson's role will "likely be as a pass game coordinator," Fowler reports.

Johnson, 36, interviewed for multiple NFL head coaching openings this offseason after lasting just one season as the Eagles' offensive coordinator, his first coordinator role in the NFL.

Johnson joined the NFL after climbing the college ranks in 2021 as the Eagles' quarterback coach, as someone who has coached and known Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts as a child.

However, Hurts seemingly regressed in 2023 in Johnson's offense, throwing a career-high 15 interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles have named Kellen Moore their new offensive coordinator.

The Washington Commanders recently hired Dan Quinn to be their new head and Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator.
