The Flyers continue to make moves, now finalizing a deal to acquire Columbus winger Cam Atkinson after trading for Ryan Ellis last week.
Philadelphia confirmed the move on Saturday afternoon, acquiring the 32-year-old veteran in exchange for Jakub Voracek. Atkinson, signed through the 2024-25 season, has an AAV of $5.8 million.
Atkinson was a career-worst -16 with Columbus last season, scoring 15 goals and dishing out 19 assists in 56 games. He is just two seasons removed from a career-high 41-goal season, which concluded a stretch of six straight seasons where he scored at least 20 goals. But he logged just 27 combined goals over the last two seasons.
Voracek, soon to be 32 himself, was originally drafted by Columbus seventh overall in the 2007 Draft. The winger scored just nine goals this past season but dished out 34 assists, consistent to his career with the Flyers, as he ranks in the top five in franchise history in assists. He has 427 helpers in 727 career games in Philly, and will be returning to Columbus after playing his first three seasons there from 2008 to 2011.
