The Penguins have added to their defense acquiring Mark Friedman off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

General Manager Ron Hextall made the announcement Wednesday that Friedman will be with the team in Washington for Thursday night’s game at 7:00 p.m.

Friedman has played in 11 NHL games since coming into the league during the 2018-19 season and has one assist and six shots with six penalty minutes.

The right-hander has skated in four games for the Flyers this season.

So far in 2021, Friedman is a minus two with four penalty minutes and played a total of 10 minutes and 10 seconds in his most recent game against the Boston Bruins on February 21.

Friedman was drafted by Hextall in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft when he was the GM of the Flyers.
