According to multiple reports, Jones and Big Blue have settled on a four-year deal worth $160 million, with an additional $35 million in incentives. The news broke minutes before Tuesday's 4 p.m. franchise tag deadline, meaning New York won't need to use its franchise tag on its quarterback - instead using it on running back Saquon Barkley.

It wasn't always seen as a given, especially after reports surfaced that contract talks between the two sides turned tense at times during late-night negotiations on Monday, but after Jones had reportedly asked for roughly $45 million per year, they settled on the $40 million the Giants had reportedly come up to on Tuesday.

General manager Joe Schoen told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine late last week that he felt the time crunch ahead of Tuesday's deadline, and wished the two sides were closer to an agreement.

But after extended negotiations in the days since, the Giants and Jones were able to close the gap, and the franchise has its quarterback moving forward.

Jones had his best season under Brian Daboll last year, leading Big Blue to the playoffs while throwing for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns against just five interceptions, drastically improving on the turnover woes that plagued him earlier in his career.
