Former Kansas City Chiefs Hall Of Fame head coach Dick Vermeil believes quarterback Patrick Mahomes is destined to surpass Joe Montana and Tom Brady in overall career success.
"I think it's more than on par," Vermeil told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show when asked if Mahomes is on par with Montana and Brady.
"He has a dimension in his game that Joe didn't have or Brady didn't have. The mobility and the ability to throw the ball accurately, in any body position, any foot position, and just make a play. Everyone once in awhile it back fires on him, but I think he's destined to go above them in overall career success."
"It is incredible that he has an actual chance to beat Brady's total number [of Super Bowls]," Jon Ritchie replied.
Mahomes, just 28 years old, is playing in his sixth straight AFC Championship game this weekend. He is two wins away from his third Super Bowl in his first seven NFL seasons.
Mahomes is already a two-time regular season MVP, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, and has been named to two first-team All-Pros. He has reached six Pro Bowls.
Brady finished his career with seven Super Bowls, three first-team All-Pros, three regular seasons MVPs, and five Super Bowl MVPs.
Montana finished his career with four Super Bowls, three first-team All-Pros, two regular seasons MVPs, and three Super Bowl MVPs.
