Both the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of incredible seasons, where both teams exceeded expectations and reached their respective championships.
Now, expectations are heightened for both, and the Phils are getting ready for another postseason while the Eagles' are just days away from the start of the 2023 regular season.
Joe Giglio believes the Phillies have a better chance to win the World Series than the Eagles do of winning the Super Bowl.
"I look at the state of the National League—and I recognize how good the Braves and Dodgers are—but I also say I don't care because in baseball in often doesn't matter," Giglio said at the top of Monday's 94WIP Midday Show. "The best regular season team in baseball doesn't always win, in fact a lot of times they don't win.
"Meanwhile, the Eagles they're really good and they have a really good chance. But the history works more against them than I think against the Phillies. It's tough to have that kind of year in the NFL with this kind of schedule again.
"In the last 50 years, there's one NFC team—one—and it happened in the 70's, that lost the Super Bowl and went back the next year and won it. Guess the last time a team in baseball lost the World Series and went back the next year and won it? Last year, the Astros did it! It happened in 2014-15 with the Royals...The Phillies' rotation ERA is better than both the Braves and the Dodgers. Bryce Harper's power is back. They've got a lot going on guys."
Hugh Douglas disagreed with Giglio, saying he believes the path is a lot easier for the Eagles.
"Now, you have another year under their belt...You got a lot of guys on this team that have a lot of chips on their shoulder. And by the way, the quarterback just got paid and he's hella focused."
Related to this, Howard Eskin recently said that he believes the Phillies have a better chance to win the World Series in 2024 and 2025 than 2023.
