Joe Giglio calls himself out for overrating the 2024 Phillies
Joe Giglio is calling himself out for saying back in May that the Phillies were an "all-time great baseball team."
"I am calling myself out more than anybody else, because I did it," Giglio said on Monday's 94WIP Midday Show with Hugh Douglas. "But I'm not the only one. I think we overrated the Phillies. They're not as great as they looked to start the season. Do I believe they're as bad as they are now? No. I still think there's a team here that can win the World Series. At one point there were on pace to be the greatest Phillies team of all-time. I said they were the greatest Phillies team of all-time...Hugh, at one point they were 44-19...Since then, they are 25-30.
"I thought at some point this was an all-time great team, the best Phillies team I ever saw. They're not. It doesn't mean this season is over, it doesn't mean they're a disaster forever. But they're just not as great as I thought they were."
The Phillies finished a 10-game road trip going 4-6 on Sunday. They are still 7.5 games ahead of the Braves in the NL East, but they are now tied with the Dodgers for the best record in the NL and just 1.5 games ahead of the Brewers.
