October Nola.
It is a fitting nickname for Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola, who has been absolutely dominant in his last three outings, all in October.
Dating back to October 3rd, his final regular start against the Astros, plus his Wildcard series start against the Cardinals and his NLDS Game 3 start against the Braves yesterday, Nola is 3-0 allowing 11 hits in 19.1 innings and ZERO earned runs, striking out 21 and walking just three.
Unreal.
The 29-year-old righty was the Phillies' seventh overall draft pick in 2014. For his career, Nola is 78-62 with a 3.60 ERA and has been solid throughout, but previous September struggles have given fans a reason to be critical of Nola.
Over the last four years Nola has a 4.87 ERA in 23 September starts, but all of that has been erased by his October dominance.
"It was awesome," Nola said after the game. "It's been a while since we've been in the playoffs here, obviously, and to see the fans like what they were tonight is awesome. The hitters, what they did tonight as well, just sparked it up even more."
