At long last, the Philadelphia Phillies snapped their postseason drought, and Brandon Graham is among those thrilled about it.
After 11 years of missing the playoffs, the Phillies punched their ticket to the 2022 postseason Tuesday night with their win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. They secured one of three National League wild spots and will likely face the St. Louis Cardinals in the wild card round, though in a more distant possibility, they could face the Mets.
The defensive end, a career Eagle, knows as well as anybody what it is like to make the postseason in Philly. He’s excited to see what the Phillies can do.
“Especially if you got in the way they did, because we know all about it,” Graham said in his weekly appearance on “Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team) when asked about the first time he made the playoffs. “The games that we need at the end of the year, and we need one to get in and we go out and do it. I’m sure they had to go through a bunch of boos at first though, but those guys stuck together. It’s only going to make them better.
“It feels great. It’s going to be a hostile environment, they want to make sure that they get through the first round because you get on it and hopefully you’re gaining momentum at the right time. I felt good watching those boys yesterday.”
Regardless of opponent, the Phillies’ chase for a World Series title will begin Friday.
