PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — After splitting the first two in Houston, the Phillies are back home for three straight World Series games.

They won Game 1 and lost Game 2 on the road against the Astros — exactly what the Phillies did in the 2008 and 2009 Fall Classics, when Charlie Manuel was manager.

“And right now, it’s a three-out-of-five instead of a four-out-of-seven, and we got these three games at home. And I think we can put ourselves in a real good position,” he predicted.

“I think the series is gonna go seven games and I think the Phillies are gonna win because they’ve been a Cinderella story all year, and I think Cinderella is going to end on a good note.”

Manuel said it is important that players do not get too caught up in the moment. It’s all about staying focused; the Phils must have the same approach as they would any other game.

“We’re not gonna panic and not get over-excited,” he added. “We’re gonna come out and play the same way that we’ve played. I’m sure Robby Thomson, he’s thinking along those same lines and he knows exactly what to do. He’s been fantastic this season and I think when it’s all said and done, the Phillies are gonna be the champions.”

If all goes well Monday night, fans could celebrate just as they did on this day, Halloween, 14 years ago, when the Phillies had their celebratory World Series parade.

“Was the biggest highlight of my career,” Manuel said.
