It’s always more special at home, and the All-Star Game will be extra special for the Phillies after five players were selected – tied with the Braves and Dodgers for the most in the game.
Brandon Marsh, in the midst of a breakout season, was the only Phillie elected as a starter, but he will be joined by reserves Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, as well as pitchers Jhoan Duran and Cristopher Sanchez.
Marsh, who will make his first career All-Star appearance, led all NL outfielders in Phase 2 voting, and is the first Philly outfielder elected to start since Raul Ibanez in 2009. He entered Sunday slashing .310/.342/.514 with 15 homers and 46 RBI this season.
Harper, slashing .274/.374/.529 with 20 homers and 57 RBI, was Commissioner Rob Manfred’s “Legends Pick.” He will be making his ninth overall appearance.
Schwarber, who leads MLB with 30 homers and leads the NL with a .570 slugging percentage, is the backup to Shohei Ohtani and will be making his second straight and fourth overall appearance.
Sanchez, who is 10-3 with a 2.00 ERA, is second in the NL in wins, ERA, and strikeouts (136), and is a candidate to start the game. He was previously an All-Star in 2024.
Duran, who is a first-timer, has 21 saves and a 1.52 ERA in 31 outings, with 45 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings.
