Kyle Schwarber's leadership and humility was on full display during his interview with the 94WIP Afternoon Show when Spike Eskin asked him about his enormous grand slam against the Marlins on August 14th.
"I definitely think there are key points throughout the season, right?" Schwarber said when asked if he believes in singular season-altering moments. "I don't think it's just maybe one thing, but it could be definitely one thing. I think if you look throughout the course of the year you could see a lot of really cool things that happen."
Eskin then asked Schwarber if he believes his grand slam vs. the Marlins was one of those moments.
“I hope so, right?" Schwarber said. "I hope. I like to think about that stuff, but I don't like to think that about myself. I'm looking at everyone else, right? If someone is thinking that about me, that's a good thing. I can think at a bunch of other things where a bunch of other people stepped up, especially when you look at our young guys who were in the minor leagues and we had some guys go down and they stepped up right away."
Coming off four straight losses in the middle of August with the Phillies trailing the Marlins 5-2 in the bottom of the 4th at Citizens Bank Park, Schwarber hit a grand slam in a game the Phils would go on to win 9-5.
The Phillies would win four straight and never lose more than two in a row up until this point.
