Larry Bowa called into 94WIP's Return of Red October Pep Rally live at Chickie's & Pete's in South Philly to discuss the Phillies' weekend Wildcard playoff series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
"We've got to take care of St. Louis, which I think is a very good matchup for us and I'm looking forward to them coming home and playing the Braves when they handle the Cardinals in this short series," the Phillies senior advisor told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Thursday.
"The things that I'm a little cautious about, even though I'm very optimistic over the series, a lot of times when you get there the first time you are very happy you are there. I think we have enough veterans on this team—they're not all young kids that haven't been involved it. But I think we have enough veterans that realize that this is just the first leg of the journey."
The Phillies will face the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday (2:07pm) and Saturday (8:37pm), with Game 3 on Sunday if necessary.
"I feel real good, I mean real good, about this series," Bowa said when asked for a series prediction. "I like Wheeler and Nola, I'm looking for two games and coming back and playing Atlanta and then we're going to have some Red October at Citizens Bank Park."
