MEDIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The State Street Pub in Delaware County on Sunday was more or less reserved entirely for the families of Media’s Little League players. After Media’s 5-3 win against the team from Maine on Saturday, those families were gathered again to watch their squad take on Rhode Island — but it ended in a heartbreaking 7-2 loss.
The entire pub was hanging on to every single pitch through the roller coaster ride of a game on Sunday. Media was down 2-0, then they tied it up. But they had a tough time in the sixth and final inning to get out, and they gave up five runs.
The fans at State Street started to cheer as soon as that final out was recorded. It was their final big cheer for this Media team, of whom they are so very, very proud — for the progress they made this season, and just for making it to the Little League World Series.
Despite the disappointing loss, the kids’ families were so happy with the tremendous effort they saw in Williamsport, and they said they hope this Media team gets a nice welcome when they come back home.

Having their brunch and watching the game, Pat Moran and his family said the entire run has been a lot of fun. He said they were all in Williamsport yesterday on Saturday.
“Having a blast seeing kids we see everyday play baseball,” Moran said. “We know a lot of the parents, a lot of the kids. My son plays baseball for Media, and the kids have been great, helping him grow as a player, too. It’s awesome.”

The families got to see the Phillies cheer on their favorite Little Leaguers, as well. Bryce Harper and the Phils arrived during the game against Rhode Island. This is the sixth year Major League Baseball sent two teams to play in Williamsport.
Some of the Major League’s stars today got to play in the Little League World Series years back. So who knows, some of the Media players the State Street patrons were cheering for Sunday could be in the big leagues one day too.
Rob Thomson's Phillies finished out their series with the Nationals Sunday night by losing the Little League Classic 4-3. The Phillies are supposed to have their way with the Nationals, but in the stat that matters — wins and losses — the Phils finished 7-and-6 against Washington this season. Zack Wheeler gave up 4 runs in the first. The Phils scored 3 in the 9th — their rally falling short.
Despite the Phils' loss, being in Williamsport was a spectacular experience for them — made more special because of kids from Media that gave rise to "DELCO versus The World."
