MLB Rumors: Bregman, Crochet targets for Phillies
The MLB Hot Stove is heating up and while the Philadelphia Phillies seem to be no longer involved in the Juan Soto sweepstakes, two big names have popped up as potential targets this week—Alex Bregman and Garrett Crochet.
"The most interesting prediction heard from a rival evaluator: The Phillies land Alex Bregman," ESPN's Buster Olney posted on X. "His swing translates in that park, strong defense, lots of postseason scar tissue."
Bregman, 30, is just two years older than current Phillies' third baseman Alec Bohm—who is reportedly "on the trade block."
Bregman, a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champ, is a free-agent who is expected to receive a contract in the range of 5-7 years worth $26-$32 million per season.
Furthermore, the Phillies are reportedly among the most aggressive suitors for 25-year-old White Sox left-handed starter Garrett Crochet.
Crochet is set to make just $2.9 million in 2025 before arbitration year three in 2026. He is set to be an unrestricted free-agent in 2027.
The Phillies have already committed long-term deals to starting pitchers Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Cristopher Sanchez and have 29-year-old Ranger Suarez under contract for 2025.
